Current Obsessions

Hello all and Happy Thursday!  This week has flown by and I am just trying to keep up.  I thought it was time to share with you some of the things I am over the moon about these days.  I have always loved anything with nailheads but I love the new and interesting shapes we can accentuate just by adding nailheads, its genius!  I am also loving feminine gold accent pieces that make a room feel light and pretty just like a soft silk blouse can do for your wardrobe.  Anything monogrammed is always a thoughtful and personal touch also like the cute zodiac art print - great for a playroom or kids bedroom.  Enjoy a few of my current obsessions and have a wonderful day!

That Good 'Ole Feelin'

When I start a new project I always go through my very large folder of inspiration photos, not only for inspiration on style, furniture and color but also for "feeling inspiration."  Does that make sense?  I want to get the feeling down.  You know it when you see it, the feeling you get when you walk into a room and it exudes that feeling of something - calm, relaxation, whimsy, glamour, boldness, cozy, a breath of fresh air and the list can go on for days.  Well my brand new client, Sherri, knows exactly what she wants it to feel like so that makes the project a little easier.  I can't wait to see what her calm, cozy, sophisticated, eclectic, neutral palette with a bit of brick red and pistachio (her color words - love it) will look like.  Construction has yet to begin so it will be a while before I get those after pics so here are a few of my favorite neutrals.

Effortlessly Cool, Boho-Chic

Its amazing how much the weather influences my design aesthetic at any given moment.  With the hot weather of Summer quickly setting upon us here in central Texas, I tend to go more Bohemian.  I feel that my personal style in both interiors and in fashion has always been rooted in bohemian and earthy designs.  Its hard to classify my design style into one type, I love traditional elements mixed with a mid century modern style but always bring in something eclectic or "collected" to make a room feel more comfortable and familiar.  Bohemian, ethnic and eclectic elements make a room feel effortlessly cool and chic.  Here are great examples from one of my favorite websites, Calypso St. Barth.  They have this style nailed!

Turquoise - Jewelry

So, yesterday I blogged about Turquoise, rooms that is or items in rooms.  Today, I want to share my love and obsession with turquoise jewelry.   I tend to buy things that either tell a story or mean something......and occasionally just for the heck of it.  Most of my turquoise comes from my New Mexico travels, which are often handcrafted by the Native Americans.  They are truly such talented and gifted artisans.  I am always in awe of their creations.  This style of jewelry always makes me feel a bit bohemian and I like that!

Below are some modern designs that feature this timeless stone.  One is Kendra Scott, fellow Austin gal. Her designs are beautiful and sophisticated.  You can really find turquoise anywhere and I have featured Kendra Scott, Stella & Dot and of course Anthropologie.

Enjoy!!

Bold Turquoise

There is something so calming about Turquoise.  I'm guessing it takes you to a tropical place with sandy beaches and deep turquoise waters.  I can hear the waves softly crashing when I look at these photos.  This is a color you shouldn't be afraid of whether in your home or in your wardrobe, its a classic - whatever shade of turquoise you choose.  Think Tiffany!
